Dream It, Be It

Dream It, Be It: Career Support for Girls helps girls grow up to be strong, successful, happy adults. Dream It, Be It targets girls in secondary school who face obstacles to their future success. It provides girls with access to professional role models, career education and the resources to live their dreams. Working in a small group setting, the program provides participants with the information and resources they want and need to be successful.
Soroptimist International of Saratoga County (SISC), in partnership with the Saratoga YMCA, launched Dream It, Be It in March 2018. Seventeen girls participated in the Workshop and topics covered included career opportunities, setting and achieving goals, overcoming obstacles to success and how setbacks and failures will happen and are an opportunity for growth and ultimate success.

Relationships amongst the girls formed naturally and for this reason SISC offered a second Workshop in the fall. When the girls catch up with each other, complete new program modules and learn how to turn Failure into Success they feel, sometimes for the first time, like they are able to overcome impediments to living their dreams.
SISC is kicking off year two of Dream It, Be It with a Spring 2019 Workshop which will take place at the Saratoga Regional YMCA.  Requests have gone out to principals and guidance counselors at Saratoga County high schools to recruit girls who can benefit most from the Program. The guidance counselors are equipped with the registration and parental consent forms required to sign up. SISC hopes to reach 25–30 girls in grades 9-12 for the 2019 Program. The date of the workshop has been rescheduled for October 12, 2019.
At the Workshop, professionals from the Saratoga Regional YMCA and SISC will guide the girls through Dream It Be It Modules (1) Discovering Your Dreams, (2) Exploring Careers and (3) Creating Achievable Goals.  The girls will also hear from inspirational women speakers who have overcome obstacles in their own lives to become successful civic leaders and professionals. A second Workshop for these girls is anticipated in the Fall.
