Cabin Fever

The 2019 Cabin Fever Event was held on January 19 at the Saratoga National Golf Club. Cabin Fever, an annual fundraising luncheon, provides a platform for individuals to gather, network, and raise money for a tremendous cause – improving the lives of women and children locally, nationally and internationally. Our 2019 keynote was Catherine Thimmesh,  an award-winning children’s author – writing with a perspective to empower young girls to be stronger women. She uses creativity, curiosity and facts to change the narrative, and stimulate the interest of children and young girls.

Children’s stories often place the female character as the victim, weak, needing to be saved. Catherine’s award-winning work parallels directly with SISC’s dedication to empower young girls to grow up to be strong, successful, happy adults. Soroptimist’s “Dream It, Be It” campaign targets girls in secondary school who face obstacles to their future success. It provides girls with access to professional role models, career education and the resources to live their dreams.
