Violet Richardson Award

action at any age

The Violet Richardson Award is given by the club each year, to celebrate the efforts of young women in Saratoga County who are working to improve their lives or the lives of others. The Violet Richardson Award honors a young women between the ages of 14 and 17 for her volunteer action such as fighting drugs, crime and violence; cleaning up the environment; and working to end discrimination and poverty. We are most interested in applicants that have demonstrated initiative in both identifying a problem and trying to solve it and had significant and noteworthy accomplishments as volunteers.

The award is named after Violet Richardson, the president of the first Soroptimist club in 1921, who believed in personal responsibility and the motto, “It’s what you do that counts.”

SISC will provide the recipient with a cash award of $500.00 and a matching award of $500.00 to the organization she supports.
